In Your HandsRotary International President John Kenny hits home with the 2009 – 10 theme “The Future of Rotary is in Your Hands”.   We are responsible!  Well…..We’d better get cracking! My challenge to each Fredericton Sunrise Rotarian is to search out and bring a new member to our club.

In this year of economic uncertainty, the work of Rotarians is doubly important. There are still 30,000 children dying every day of preventable diseases. President Kenny also asks Rotarians “to continue to work for the health and well-being of not only children but their families and people everywhere”.

Since 1992 the Fredericton Sunrise Club focus has been youth and we have been doing a good job. With more members, we could do even better!

How we fund it:

  • Rotary TV Bingo on Rogers Cable TV 10 every  Tuesday at 6:30PM. TV Bingo players have won more than $1.5 million in prize money. Our club has donated over $750,000 to the community.

  • The annual “Fill’er Up” Campaign has raised over $100,000 for the local food banks.

What we do: Local

  • Financially support groups such as Partners for Youth, Fredericton Boys and Girls Club, Children’s International Summer Village, Junior Achievement, Camp Rotary and more

  • Send a local high school student to live and study in a foreign country and host a student from another country for 10 months through the Rotary Youth Exchange Program

  • Sponsor the exchange students Rotary Cross Canada Tour

  • Mentor the FHS Interact Club, Feed students at Safe Grad, Celebrate GED recipients

  • Award Paul Harris Fellows to citizens for exceptional community service

What we do: International

  • Support schools and orphanages

  • Water projects such as bore holes and  installation of water

  • Mosquito nets to prevent malaria, provide shelter boxes for emergency relief in disaster areas.
